About Borderpost

Borderpost is an independent, country-by-country guide to where crypto exchanges are available and what the local rules are. Here is how we work, how we date facts, and how we stay honest about money.

Borderpost exists to answer one under-served question: where can you actually, legally use a crypto exchange, and what are the local rules? Most 'best exchange' sites rank whichever venue pays them best and treat availability as an afterthought. We do the opposite — availability and local regulation come first, and a payout never buys a placement.

What we cover

We map exchange availability and eligibility country by country, and we explain the regulatory frame in each major market: the UK's FCA financial-promotions regime, the EU's MiCA, Canada's CSA registration, Australia's AUSTRAC, and how the US differs state by state. We do not rank coins, predict prices, tell anyone 'what to buy', or teach anyone to bypass a geo-block or KYC. That is a deliberate boundary, not a gap.

How we date and source facts

Availability, KYC, legality and tax differ by country and change often, so every such claim on Borderpost carries a check-date — you will see 'checked 2026-09-10' throughout. We draw on exchanges' own published terms and registers, and on regulators' public information, and we frame numbers as 'published, checked on' a date rather than as live truth. When we cannot verify something, we say so instead of guessing. Because this field moves fast, we tell every reader to confirm the current position for their own country before acting.

Independence and how we handle money

Some outbound links are affiliate links, and we only ever use them for exchanges that are compliant in the market we are writing about. Where an exchange is barred from a market, we name it for context but never link it. We also recommend options that pay us nothing — Bitstamp, and self-custody wallets — whenever they are the honest answer, precisely to keep the incentives visible. The full mechanics are on our affiliate disclosure page.

Borderpost is educational. Crypto is volatile and you can lose all the money you put in. Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy any particular asset. For decisions that matter, verify with your national regulator and speak to a qualified professional. Questions or corrections are welcome at the contact desk.
